Pakistan reiterates commitment to global zero-waste movement

Pakistan has reiterated its strong commitment to the global zero-waste movement.

Speaking at the General Assembly Hall on the occasion of the International Day of Zero Waste, Pakistan's Permanent Representative-designate to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad also emphasized the need for sustainable waste management practices and enhanced multilateral cooperation to address the escalating waste crisis.

He said that despite numerous challenges, Pakistan is actively working to support the zero-waste movement through national policies and initiatives..

Recognizing the challenges faced by developing countries in achieving zero waste, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar stressed the need for special and differential treatment, capacity-building, technology transfer, and financial support to facilitate sustainable waste management.
