Dr. Huma Baqai (IR Expert):
India has been adopting the attitude of negative response since long. The United States President Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue but Modi declared it as bilateral issue between the two nuclear states. India is never willing to resolve not only Kashmir issue but all outstanding issues with Pakistan though dialogue. Pakistan has always exercised strategic restraints. Islamabad is effectively pursuing Kashmir issue on all international fora. The government has also officially shutdown its airspace for Indian airlines. The Indian trade transit to Afghanistan via Pakistan should also be reviewed. Kashmir is a bilateral issue not only between India and Pakistan but peace of whole region depends on this issue. Turkey under the Tayyip Erdoğan has emerged an important and strong Islamic country and we see Tayyip Erdoğan speaking on every issue related to Muslim Ummah. The support of Turkey in prevailing situation in Held Kashmir will be vital.
Brig (Retd) Harris Nawaz (Defense Analyst):
Narendra Modi has emerged the most cunning Indian Prime Minister. He always adopted double standards. At some occasions, Modi declared Kashmir as India’s integral part and in his meeting with Donald Trump he declared it as a bilateral issue. Donald Trump also responded that if it is bilateral issue then why it has not been resolved yet. My question is where are the international organizations at the time when Indian forces have seized the entire Kashmir valley. Innocent children have been arrested and taken away from their parents. I am confident that if the United States and other global players make serious efforts then Kashmir issue will definitely be resolved. Pakistan should play its card as the United States needs Pakistan’s support for pace process in Afghanistan. Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar has called for an immediate restoration of communication and respect for human rights in Occupied Kashmir which is positive development.
Brig (Retd) Tipu Sultan (Defense Analyst):
What India did in the Held Kashmir unilaterally and unconstitutionally it clearly indicates the Hindutva mindset of Narendra Modi. Pakistan has managed to get the attention of international community over Kashmir issue using diplomatic channels. India will never succeed to suppress the movement of freedom of Kashmiri people by use of force. I am expecting violence on large scale in the Held valley once the curfew is lifted. India has sent many RSS extremists in the valley in military outfits for genocide of Kashmiri Muslims. India will be unstable after the anarchy in the valley and in frustration it may carry out false flag operation in AHK or may initiate a limited war with Pakistan. India should keep in mind that Pakistani forces are fully prepared to respond any Indian aggression in a befitting manner.
Dr. Khurram Iqbal (IR Expert):
India’s annexation of Kashmir is straight out of the Israeli playbook. What Israel did with Palestinians, India is doing the same with Kashmiris. India changed the demography of Kashmir as Israel did in Palestine. The attempt to bring Hindus and other Indians back as settlers rather than equal residents is seen as a provocation. India wants to negotiate with Pakistan without having Kashmir dispute in the agenda. After the Indian illegal move in Occupied Kashmir, Pakistan maximized its diplomatic efforts to highlight Kashmir dispute to international community and managed to get its attention in this regard. Narendra Modi during his one on one meeting with US President Donald Trump admitted that Kashmir is a disputed territory and bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. It is unfortunate the important Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia and UAE have not condemned Indian atrocities in Held Kashmir.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert):
PM Imran Khan during his address to the nation represented the stance of entire nation that we will not leave Kashmiris alone at this difficult time. Pakistan is the only country that has taken up the Kashmir issue on all possible fora and will continue its moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people. India abrogated the Article 370 and 35-A is violation of UN resolutions where Kashmir has been declared as a bilateral issue. International community has expressed legitimate concerns about the ongoing communications blackouts, increased militarization of the region, and enforcement of curfew. It has happened for the first time that the international community, civil society and political parties within India are raising a strong voice against the illegal steps taken by Modi government in the held territory.
Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Ikramullah Bhatti (Defense Analyst):
India through its unconstitutional move in Held Kashmir has provided an opportunity to Pakistan and the Kashmiris to effectively highlight Kashmir issue in front of the world. Earlier, India never wanted to discuss Kashmir issue but after abolishing special status of Held valley, India itself internationalized it. The United Nations is responsible to resolve the core Kashmir dispute in accordance with its own Resolutions. Leaders of many countries have condemned Indian move in Kashmir and termed Kashmir as bilateral issue between Pakistan and India. International community must realize that Indian move to end the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir will change the status quo of the disputed area and result in a tense situation in the region.
Abdul Hameed Lone (Hurriyet Leader):
Pakistan always played a positive role and made constructive efforts to resolve Kashmir issue through dialogue. But Indian inflexible attitude always remained a hurdle in this regard. India is illegally occupying Jammu & Kashmir and imposed strict curfew and violating human rights in the valley. The world also condemned Modi’s unilateral move and declared Kashmir as an international issue. Pakistan should increase its efforts at diplomatic level to resolve the issue. Kashmiris are confident that Pakistan will always stand with the Kashmiri people. Muslim countries should be united to defeat anti-Muslim elements and built a pressure on India to give the Kashmiris their right to self-determination. International organizations and NGOs should be given access in the held Kashmir to provide food and medicine to Kashmiris. Indian forces have arrested an Indian doctor in Srinagar for speaking up against the curfew which has left occupied Kashmir without any internet or landline services since last four weeks. The world must also think that Kashmir has become the nuclear flashpoint between two nuclear states and it will affect the entire world.
Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed Khan (IR Expert):
China is an important stakeholder in the region and has strong strategic relations with Pakistan and good economic relations with India. China expressed serious concern over Modi’s unilateral decision on occupied Kashmir and called for maintaining the status quo in the disputed region. India has continued to undermine China's territorial sovereignty by unilaterally changing its domestic law. India's recent measures also challenged China's sovereign rights and interests, contrary to the agreement between the two sides on safeguarding the border areas of the two countries. Keeping in view the current situation it seems that the Indian policies has weakened Indian credentials as secular and democratic state. The Hindutva ideology of present Indian government is harmful not only for India’s neighboring countries but for the entire region.
Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi (IR Expert):
The situation in Held Kashmir is worse in last two months. The meeting of UNSC on agenda of Kashmir after 50 year is big achievement of Pakistan at diplomatic level. China is among the countries that openly supported the stance of Pakistan and condemned India’s unilateral to change the status of Held Kashmir. It is the time that United Nations, OIC and European Union should come forward and urge India to lift the curfew imposed in the valley and support the Kashmiris with food stuff and medication.
