Tens of thousands of farmers marched to New Delhi protesting new agricultural laws
Prominent international daily the Washington Post says India has strayed far from fundamental rights of citizens.
In an article, the paper alludes to the right of dissent by making a mention of treatment meted out to those who protested against any act of government, those who protested against controversial Citizenship Act being labelled as anti-nationals or the farmers protesting against farm laws.
The paper writes that Modi led BJP regime has been pushing dangerous and discriminatory policies without considering the opinions and reservations of those affected by these act.
The paper notes that the violent turn taken by farmers protest on India's Republic Day showed that Modi led authoritarian government is not ready to meet this challenge.
