November 29, 2022

Brig. (Retd.) Mehmood Shah (Defense Analyst): It is a very important visit of the Minister of State of Foreign Affairs to brotherly country of Afghanistan. Afghan government has promised that it will not facilitate and help TTP to launch terror strikes inside Pakistan. It is a good thing that Afghan government understands the concern of Pakistan. The present set up in Afghanistan also knows its responsibility in this regard. Pakistan has been providing support to Afghanistan in every hour of need. It is a good visit to remind Afghanistan of its obligations. The visit will also help increase trade and business links between the two countries besides removing the bottlenecks in this regard. It is a step in the right direction.

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): The visit comes at a time when there is winter in Afghanistan and the country needs assistance on humanitarian basis. Afghanistan is a poor country and needs international help to avert the food crisis. The government of Taliban has not been recognized so far by any country. Pakistan and Afghanistan have deep historical, religious and cultural relations. This visit will further improve ties between the two brotherly countries in diverse areas. This will also help remove misunderstandings between the two countries. Afghanistan is a key link in improving regional connectivity and can reap benefits by joining the CPEC. Afghanistan should take care that its soil is not used against anti-Pakistan activities.
