Analysts hail Prime Minister’s visit to Balochistan to assess the flood situation
July 30, 2022

Farah Azeem Shah (Spokesperson Balochistan Govt): It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif did not care about the security protocol during his visit to Balochistan. Rather, he visited the flood affected areas and took an aerial view of the situation. The PML-N led incumbent government is doing whatever it can to provide relief to the people. The Met Office has again predicted rains from 1st of August in Balochistan and indicated the areas which could again be hit by floods. It is high time that we set our differences aside and come on one page to play our role to provide relief and help to people.

Bushra Rind (MPA, Balochistan): Whenever there is a devastating situation, we can't predict the areas that will be affected. Balochistan has never faced the floods on this scale. The incumbent federal government is taking all possible steps to assist the people. Balochistan is a deprived area that lacks financial resources. Thousands of people in the province have made houses on nullahs and have been living there. These houses often block the sewerage systems and the water cannot be drained. During our government, we removed many such encroachments in the affected areas. We applaud the army, rescue teams and PDMA for their efforts in helping the people who are affected by floods. We are thankful to the Prime Minister for visiting the province and directing the Chief Secretary to take immediate steps to help the people affected by floods.

Najam us Saqib (Former Ambassador): The meeting between Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his Chinese counterpart reflects brotherhood between the two countries. Both sides discussed bilateral ties and ways to enhance cooperation in the region, along with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. There is a misconception in the West that CPEC is not progressing and we are relying on China's aid. China supports its companies to invest in Pakistan and is willing to import more high-quality agricultural products from us. We have assured China that that these projects will flourish and their investment will not go waste. Pakistan is increasing contacts with various countries to improve the bilateral relations and trade.

Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Pakistan and China enjoy friendship that is deeper than oceans and higher than mountains. China fully stands by Pakistan to help it overcome the challenges it is facing. China is openly assisting Pakistan without any greed or favor in return. CPEC is the biggest development project of the world and China is investing massively into it. China is using its diplomatic relations to help Pakistan develop. China is making all out efforts to maintain peace in the neighboring countries and asking for cooperation. This is our diplomatic success and we congratulate Mr. Bilawal Bhutto to work upon it accordingly.
