Political stability is vital in order to strengthen economy of the country: Analysts
April 02, 2023

Qaisar Ahmad Sheikh (Leader, PML-N): Keeping in view the current situation in the country, we cannot afford separate elections in the country. Such elections will result in a heavy burden on the economy of the country. The coalition government has developed a mutual consensus and demanded that general elections should be held on the same day across the country. The issues must be settled before the general elections. The PTI Chief is not even ready for talks for the sake of national interest. The current government is making all out efforts to bring the economy on the right track. The gap between exports and imports have reduced but the issue is that our industries are not flourishing due to the ban on imports. The government is also striving to improve Foreign Direct Investment in the country as well. Currently the inflation rate is at the highest in the history of Pakistan. Meanwhile, political stability is vital in order to strengthen the economy of the country.

Taj Haider (Senator, PPP): Our political party has always strived for the assemblies to complete the tenures. Pakistan People’s Party always opposed any movement that prevented an assembly to complete the tenure. It is the time that every political party must have to analyze itself as everyone knows what is right and what is wrong. The main thing is that everyone is bound to comply with the constitution. The division within the Judges of the Supreme Court is not a positive development.  The differences among its senior judges in the light of recent unusual events that can make the situation even worse.

Dr. Farooq Adil (IR Expert): It is very sad that we have not learnt lesson from our past. We have forgotten sad events of 1971.  At present, there is only one person who has a lot of ego has put the country's existence at stake. Both Punjab and KP assemblies were dissolved just on the wish of one person that resulted in the political turmoil in the country. Pakistan is in the grip of multiple crises including an unprecedented economic crunch and mounting security threats and at this point of time the country cannot afford separate elections.
