Pakistan-Turkiye bilateral relations on upward trajectory

Shoaib Hasan (Senior Journalist, TRT): The Turkish people strongly believe that Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the right person to lead the country at this point of time. Although in the recent past, Turkiye faced a natural disaster in the shape of an earthquake and some economic challenges, the Turkish people have expressed confidence in the leadership of Tayyip Erdogan. During his presidential address the Turkish president mentioned the government’s main priorities would be fighting inflation and healing the wounds from a catastrophic earthquake. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ranked first place in the 2019 edition of the World's 500 Most Influential Muslims. Turkey has focused on building stronger relations with all of its seven land-contiguous neighbors.

 

Rana Ihsaan Afzal (Coordinator to PM): Pakistan and Turkey have been enjoying strong bilateral relations since long. Meanwhile, Pakistan is also supporting Turkiye on certain international issues. In the recent past, Pakistan and Turkiye have signed a free trade agreement. The Prime Minister of Pakistan is looking to improve exports to Turkiye. The recent visit of the Prime Minister to Turkiye was to congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his re-election as Turkish President for the next five years. Turkiye has always supported the narrative of Pakistan on Kashmir issue at all international forums and stood by Pakistan firmly. With the re-election of the Turkish President, Pakistan is looking forward to continued support towards Pakistan on regional issues.

Dr. Furqan Hameed (Senior Journalist, TRT):During his official visit to Turkiye, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with the heads of Turkish companies and convinced them to invest in Pakistan in different sectors. The Prime Minister ensured the Turkish businessmen for the provision of complete facilitation and a conducive business environment. Many Turkish companies have already been investing in Pakistan. There are excellent opportunities for further cooperation and collaboration in the areas of energy, especially hydro and solar, housing and construction, infrastructure, tourism, and transportation.
