A. M. Shahid (Former Ambassador):The ongoing conference in Qatar could be the follow-up of the meeting where the developed countries announced to give Pakistan about 9 million dollars. But this conference is not specified to a single country but all the Least Developed Countries across the globe will be the part of it. The developed countries are expected to share resources, technology and others to compensate for the sufferings of the Least Developed Countries. It is not a positive sign that not even a single leader of the developed countries is participating in the conference, yet the UN officials will try to address the issues of the LDCs.
Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert):The Prime Minister on an official visit to attend the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha. It is an important summit where the Least Developed Countries discuss the mutual issues and share expertise to resolve the issues. Qatar has good relations with Pakistan and these relations are getting strengthened with every passing day. It always supported Pakistan in critical times. The participation of the Prime Minister in this important forum will be fruitful.
Brig (Retd) Harris Nawaz (Defense Analyst): It is an important development that Pakistan and the United States will hold a two-day Counter Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad. It is time to tell the Americans how India is involved in internal affairs of Pakistan and how India is trying to destabilize the South Asian region through its terrorist activities using RAW, BLA. Recently, a high level delegation led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif visited Afghanistan and told the interim Afghan government what Pakistan expects from Afghanistan and what Pakistan has done for the Afghan government. Islamabad persuaded the Afghan interim government of not allowing Afghan soil to be used by the TTP and its affiliates. The Afghan Taliban have shown a willingness to address Pakistan’s concerns.
