Analysts hail PM Imran Khan’s vision to use modern methodology for the character building of youth in light of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)
January 06, 2022

Dr Muhammad Tufail (Religious Scholar) It was the need of the hour to promote the life style and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). We must apply the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in our daily life activities. The Prime Minister has been claiming and promoting the idea of establishment of Riasat-e-Madina which is a great development. The establishment of Rehmatul lil Alameen Authority is a step forward in this regard. The responsibility of this authority will be researching how to spread the Prophet's (PBUH) teachings among children and adults and make it relevant to their lives. The life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a role model for every person of this world who believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment. Islam in the modern perspective should not be judged by institutions that encourage fanaticism but by its insistence on the higher ideals of human dignity and equality. The truces our Holy Prophet Muhammad made with different communities were all for the same purpose to promote general peace and tolerance.

Dr Zia-ul-Haq (Religious Scholar) Prime Minister is well aware of the fact that youth is the biggest asset of the country and there is a need to focus on their capacity building. One aspect is to empower the youth professionally and the other ethical aspect is their personality. The wish of Prime Minister is that the youth must follow the teachings of Islam that will improve their moral values. The moral values in Islam aim to determine human activity in a Muslim society, and to promote and control their behavior to the benefit of the whole society and its individuals, and to bring for all individuals a good conclusion in the other life. Prime Minister is also determined that modern methodology will be used to focus on the character building of youth and children in light of the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The curriculum of ethics in light of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would be made for schools and universities and it will also be the responsibility of Rehmatul lil Alameen Authority for taking research-based measures to create harmony between Islam and science.

Waheed Ahmed (Economist) We are immensely evaluating our relations with the European Union as Pakistan is being awarded GSP plus status by the union to Pakistani exports. The European Union has allowed the exporters in Pakistan to export the products above the quota. It is good omen that Pakistan’s exports to EU-member countries had been increasing for the past few years and the economic relations would be strengthened further in future. The main areas of cooperation are development, trade, humanitarian assistance and sectorial cooperation on energy, environment, health, transport, migration and climate change. Pakistan’s exports to the EU are dominated by textiles and clothing as well as leather products while Pakistan’s imports from the EU mainly comprise mechanical and electrical machinery as well as chemical and pharmaceutical products. The focus of EU activities in Pakistan in the past had remained on poverty reduction through rural development and natural resource management, education and human resource development.

Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economist) The European Union is an economic and political union between 27 European countries and is the second largest trade partner of Pakistan. Under the GSP+ status, Pakistan is being allowed to make extra exports of 15 million dollars. We have suggested the EU delegation that recently visited Karachi to add pharmaceutical products, some other textile and food products in the exports list in order to increase the range of export products. European Union is willing to cooperate with Pakistan in all aspects. However, EU envoy also expressed some concerns over rights of minorities, freedom of expression and some others that needed improvement. Despite the Indian conspiracies, The EU has decided to retain GSP+ status for 2024 to Pakistan after reviewing the country’s two-year performance report on exports for the years 2020 and 2021 till December 2023. Pakistan has to re-apply for the GSP+ status in 2024.
