The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged the United Nations to exert pressure on India to peacefully settle the lingering Kashmir dispute in line with relevant Security Council resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service,  illegally detained APHC leaders; Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Abdul Ahmad Parra and Bilal Siddiqi, in their separate messages from jails in Srinagar and Jammu, emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir has become a nuclear flashpoint in South Asia.

They implored the United Nations to compel India to cease its state terrorism and grant the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

Other Hurriyat leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Farida Behanji and Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in their statements issued in Srinagar also called upon the international community to facilitate the settlement in line with Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The leaders paid tribute to prominent Kashmiri martyred leaders Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru ahead of their martyrdom anniversaries.

Maqbool Butt was hanged on February 11, 1984, and Afzal Guru on February 9, 2013, in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities have suspended internet services in Rajouri and Poonch districts ahead of the Indian parliament's consideration of a controversial bill, known as the Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Tribes Order  Bill, 2023.
