Verdict of Permanent Court of Arbitration on Indus Water treaty is a victory for Pakistan: Expert
July 07, 2023

Advocate Raja Nazir (Expert on International Law): Pakistan always employs the legal ways and follows international laws for its rights. India is clearly violating the Indus Water Treaty signed in 1960 between Pakistan and India according to which India can use only 20% of water and cannot construct any dam or initiate any hydro power projects on the rivers. The Permanent Court of Arbitration has rejected India’s objections to a Pakistan-initiated procedure over water use in the Indus River basin. Pakistan remains fully committed to the implementation of the Indus Water Treaty and its settlement mechanism. Despite the Indian refusal to accept the Court's decision, the Court of Arbitration will proceed further to ensure the implementation of its decision.
