February 10, 2023

Dr. Muhammad Faisal (Ambassador to Germany): Pakistan and Turkiye are having a very long history of relations, even before the creation of Pakistan. The muslims of this region developed a special relationship during the Khilafat Movement . They sold their precious belongings and thousands of them even went to Turkiye to fight the war along with them. After the recent devastating earthquake, Pakistan is trying its best to provide humanitarian assistance to the Turk brothers and sisters, facing such an emergency situation in the country. In this hour of need, it is responsibility of international community to come forward and help Turkish people in their rehabilitataion process. Aslam Chandio (News Editor, TRT WORLD, Istanbul): The recent earthquake in Tukiye was worst of its type which resulted in the death of over 19 thousands people. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is very much concerned about the situation in Turkiye and announced the relief fund for the people of Turkiye. Earlier, the Federal Cabinet has also announced to donate their one month salary, whereas the government officials from grade 18-22 will donate their one day salary for this relief fund. Two consignments from Pakistan, containing relief goods have reached Turkiye. The skillful rescue workers from Pakistan as well as its Armed forces are also working here, to rescue the people and to take them out of the rubble.Turkey always stood by Pakistan throughout the history and helped peole of Pakistan in all natural calamaties either it was earthquake of 2005 orduring the recent flash floods in Pakistan. So it is time for Pakistan to reciprocate same feelings and help that it could provide to Turkish people.
