Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): It is a good initiative of the government to host an international Gandhara Symposium. The moot aims at reviving the ancient Gandhara civilization and Buddhist heritage of the country. Pakistan is home to many remnants of the ancient Gandhara civilization in Taxila, Peshawar and numerous archaeological sites dotted across Gilgit Baltistan. It will attract large number of tourists into the country and will promote religious tourism. Moreover, such acts will promote a soft image of Pakistan across the globe. The symposium will enhance efforts and awareness toward preserving the rich historical and cultural heritage of Gandhara civilization in Pakistan.
