Analysts call upon United Nations to play its role for liberation of Junagadh state from Indian illegal occupation
November 10, 2020

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Asif Yasin Malik (Defense Analyst): There were several other princely states that either wanted accession to Pakistan, such as Manavadar and Junagadh, or wished to remain independent, like Hyderabad, but India denied that forcibly. It is good development that Nawab of Junagadh Muhammad Jahangir Khanji emphasized that the United Nations must take up the issue of liberation of Junagadh from illegal Indian occupation. The Indian occupation is against the international laws and norms. Pakistan is fully committed to its Kashmir policy as a territorial, political, diplomatic, and humanistic dispute with India. The world must take notice of Indian policies and urge New Delhi to grant liberation to the illegally occupied states.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): If we look into the history, we see that that the princely states that opted to affiliate with Pakistan were illegally occupied by India due to nexus between Lord Mount Batten and Indian leaders. It was a conspiracy against Pakistan. At the time of the creation of India and Pakistan, the sovereign rulers of the states were given the right of choice to stay independent or accede to India or Pakistan. New Delhi keeps crying about Kashmir which had a Muslim majority that wanted to join Pakistan but whose Maharaja illegally acceded to India. The Kashmiris have been victimized by India’s desire for expansionism. Since then India has illegally been occupying Kashmir and committing human rights violations there. The time is not far when the Kashmiris will get their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions. Kashmiris will never let sacrifices of their ancestors for freedom go waste.

Abdullah Gul (Defense Analyst): Shanghai Cooperation Organization has its importance not only in the regional perspective, but is also getting appreciation at international level. It is correct that the performance of the United Nations is not up to the mark. Simultaneously, the credibility of United States as a super power is also at stake. On the other hand, the significance of SCO as a vibrant organization is multiplying. Members of SCO control over 47% of world's economy. At this time, SCO is emerging as an important international forum. Pakistan, Russia, China and India are among main members of this organization. The address of Prime Minister to the members of the forum through video link is of significant importance.

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar (Chancellor, National Skills University): Even with one patient, Covid can further spread in any country. It has nothing to do with the second wave of the pandemic. We need to take joint regional efforts through SCO. We should think of such vaccine which is effective for the people of this region. The development of the vaccine is essential to defeat this disease. Everyone is looking for the development of the cure. Different countries are making efforts to develop a stable vaccine for complete protection against the COVID-19. There is an exciting vaccine based on fiber which can be a major breakthrough.

Dr. Hassan Abbas Zaheer (Medical Expert): The clinical trial of phase three of a vaccine is going on in Pakistan. We have recruited 4000 volunteers for testing in Pakistan. In the beginning of January, results will start pouring in, which will be based on those samples. Pakistan is the first country where trials are being held for the Chinese vaccine. The health ministry has moved a summary for the procurement and booking of the corona vaccine. Our vaccine, which is being tried in Pakistan on trial basis, has already been used in China and it has given quite satisfactory results. In the first half of the next year, we will be having 5 or 6 samples of different vaccines. The Prime Minister is right that we need to take precautionary measures during the second wave of COVID-19. We should maintain social distance during the winters.
