Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has set aside the concerns of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the protest of Sikhs against India in Canada.
He was addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the G20 summit which has been culminated in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, he expressed commitment to defend freedom of expression, conscience and peaceful protest.
Relationships between India and Canada remained tense and Ottawa also paused talks on a proposed trade treaty with India. Indian Prime Minister did not hold any bilateral meeting with Justin Trudeau unlike the other world leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
It is pertinent to mention that Canada has the highest population of Sikhs and they are ardent supporter of Khalistan movement aim to get freedom from India and create independent homeland for Sikhs.
