Lt General (R) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defense Analyst): Our security forces are making all out efforts to eliminate the terror incidents in the country. The current surge in terrorism activities is emanating from Afghanistan. The interim government in Afghanistan seems to be handicapped and unable to control the militant organizations using Afghan soil for their nefarious designs against other countries including Pakistan. Pakistan always has supported peace and prosperity in Afghanistan as peace in Pakistan is directly linked with the peace in Afghanistan. But unfortunately, under the current situation the relations between two brotherly countries are deteriorating. A number of militant organizations like TTP are active and operating from Afghanistan and it is the responsibility of the interim government in Kabul to shut down these terrorist nurseries. In this regard, a highest level diplomatic effort is needed to apprise Afghan govt about sensitivity of issue and possible future threats.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch (FO, Spokesperson): The D I Khan incident of terrorism is very unfortunate and tragic. We have enough evidence that the sad incident was planned and executed using Afghan soil. Afghan government should fulfill its obligations and not allow the use of its land against Pakistan. Pakistan and Afghanistan are sharing a long and porous border, which provides terrorists chance to cross the border. Our valiant security forces are active and determined to safeguard our motherland against any sort of foreign aggression. We have also conveyed our concerns with int’l community. It is after all responsibility of interim government in Kabul to ensure its soil not to be used against other countries. Afghan government needs to stop the utilization of resources for training and financing of these terrorist groups at their land.
