Analysts stress the need to adapt modern foreign policy tools to make it more effective
February 14, 2023

Dr. Muhammad Zubair (IR Expert): Today when the whole world has become a global village, No country can even think to remain isolated. So the priority of every country is to have strong bilateral relations with other nations. In the last five decades block politics gained a space in international politics. The foreign policy of Pakistan during the tenure of the previous government was badly damaged and it was the need of the hour to revise our foreign policy in order to resume strong bilateral relations with other countries. The foreign policy needs to be modernized according the changing trends globally. Not only the diplomats and foreign ministers but certain heads of states are using the platform of social media to explain the policy statements. The Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has an energetic personality and is doing a great job in foreign diplomacy. A US delegation is expected to visit Pakistan soon in order to curb the misunderstandings and differences between the two countries. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister did excellent diplomacy in Geneva in order to mobilize the world as far as climate change is concerned.

A.M. Shahid (Former Ambassador): Pakistan has been facing a number of economic and security challenges. In these circumstances, our foreign missions and diplomats are actively working to highlight country’s narrative worldwide.  In the ongoing International Naval Exercises in Karachi, Naval units from fifty countries, including Turkiye, the US, and China are participating in the joint naval exercises. The gathering of such advanced navies is a symbol of Pakistan’s successful diplomacy and expertise of our navy. The Naval Exercises can support Pakistan in enhancing capabilities as far as sea borders are concerned. It will also help Pakistan to learn from experiences of those well advanced naval forces and to overcome security, terrorism and economic challenges. Terrorism is a global issue and Pakistan lost over 80000 precious lives and billions of dollars in fighting against the menace of terrorism.
