Haroon Shaukat (Former Ambassador): The visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is of immense significance just because of the fact that Turkish role in the world especially in Islamic world is increasing with the passage of each day. Pakistan and Turkiye can have massive collaboration in multiple sectors. Turkish Aerospace has made great progress in technical field and developed state of the art drones and other equipment. Pakistani firms and companies face enormous problems in marketing their products in some areas whereas Turkish companies have great marketing access to world markets. Turkish universities have also developed to the great extent and caved out their place in the world ranking. Turkey has good relations and footing in Afghanistan so it can play role to convince Kabul to exercise its pressure on terrorist outfits present on Afghan soil.
Dr Manzoor Afridi (IR Expert): Pakistan-Turkey relations have been cordial since decades and both the countries have been supporting each other on various forums in the world. Both the countries have deep and diversified bilateral cooperation and now they seem willing to enhance the existing cooperation in near future. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have co-chaired highest level meetings. Now leading companies and firms of both sides are also willing to invest in each other’s side. It is important that both the countries can promote their existing cooperation in tourism, agriculture, IT, communication and other sectors. Both countries have already declared, Islamabad, Lahore, Muzafargarh as sister cities with Turkish cities.
