In India, main opposition party Congress says the Narendra Modi government is continuing to betray people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said the Indian government's decision to vest more powers in the Lieutenant Governor is another example of Constitution Murder Day under its rule.

He said the move will delay the restoration of full statehood to Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir or keep the newly elected IIOJK government at the mercy of the Lieutenant Governor.
