Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that developed countries should fulfill their pledges to assist developing countries in dealing with climate change challenges.
In his remarks, while visiting the Pakistan Pavilion at the COP 29 Summit in Baku, he said global commitments should be honored under the Paris Agreement.
The Information Minister said global warming, monsoon rains, floods, and glacier melting are adversely impacting the populace, causing homelessness and damaging crops.
He noted that Pakistan's contribution to the emission of toxic gases is less than 0.5 percent, yet it is suffering the most from the effects of climate change.
He mentioned that other countries have a higher share in the emission of toxic gases.
Attaullah Tarar said many countries, including Pakistan, are facing difficulties due to climate change.
He added that Pakistan has suffered billions of dollars in losses due to climate change and called for joint efforts to tackle this global challenge.
