Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig (MP): Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb is in Saudi Arabia to represent Pakistan at the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies.Actually,Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb are making strenuous efforts to bring foreign investment in Pakistan. Through this conference Finance Minister will try to convince Saudi investment in Pakistan. Hopefully Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will also be joining Finance Minister in Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has pinpointed at least three sectors for Saudi investment; these sectors include mining, agriculture and IT. In a bid to bring Saudi investment in Pakistan, Pakistan is going to sell shares of its mining company to Saudi mining company. In this regard, bilateral talks and deliberations are taking place between concerned officials of both the countries. Saudi Advisory Council is making arrangements for this investment.
Waheed Ahmad (Former Ambassador): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have deep rooted ties and both sides respect each other. Pakistani government must make all out efforts to convince Saudi investors and businessmen to invest in Pakistan. In this regard we must also convince Pakistani diaspora based in Saudi Arabia to do business from Pakistani market.
