Pak-US relations gathering new momentum: Analysts
November 17, 2022

Anwar Iqbal (Senior Journalist):

The allegations of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan on the United States are just for the sake of political gains. The PTI Chief must recall its meetings with US delegations when he was in power.  A new momentum is being observed in relations between Pakistan and the United States, which had been deteriorating with the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. In my opinion, there has been a close relationship between the two countries at the government level and both the countries have ensured the achievement of their state interests keeping in mind their short-term and long-term objectives. The US and Pakistani policymakers should address real concerns and remove irritants if they want to retain a sustained and long-lasting bilateral relationship between them.

Najam-us-Saqib (Former Ambassador):

The United States has refuted the baseless allegations levelled by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan for regime change in Pakistan. Now in his recent interview to the Financial Times, PTI Chairman has once again taken a U-Turn on US conspiracy narrative and claims that he wants to mend relations with Washington. Moreover, he termed his visit to Moscow as embarrassing. Today the US State Department clarified that there was and has never been truth in the allegations. Moreover, it also stated that the Pak-US relations will never be affected by such conspiracy narratives. The United States played an influential role in granting the IMF bailout package to Pakistan, removal from the FATF blacklist and many others. So, good news is gradually coming for Pakistan.
