A large number of Kashmiri-Americans have staged a demonstration in front of UN Headquarters to protest against holding of G20 meeting in occupied Kashmir.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to the office of UN Secretary-General, demanding immediate release of human rights defenders and political prisoners, besides giving Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
Addressing the protesters, Secretary-General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai said the G20 meeting in Srinagar contravened more than 16 UN resolutions.
He said by holding the G20 meeting in Kashmir, India intended to seek approval of G20 nations on the reckless decision of Modi regime’s decision to annex Kashmir in violation of international law and UN resolutions.
He appealed to the G20 countries to listen to UN Special Rapporteur warning that India is trying to create impression of normalcy in Kashmir despite its military occupation in the territory.
