Analysts urge Afghan interim regime to ensure its soil is not used for terrorist activities against neighbors.

Abdullah Gul (Defense analyst): From day first, Pakistan has been expressing its concerns before the international world over the left over arms and weapons by the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. Factually the terrorists are carrying out terror attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa by using these modern and latest weapons and gadgets. I am convinced that Americans have left modern arms and ammunition worth billions of dollars in Afghanistan deliberately just to keep the region unstable. Pakistan has serious concerns over it because terrorists are using state of the art gadgets and ammunition in terror attacks in Pakistan. Why the Americans did not take these weapons from Taliban despite the narrative that Taliban were enemies of global peace. In Doha accord, the US guaranteed the regional peace, but still the US has not come up to any commitment so far. I am unable to understand the reason behind not detonating the left over arms and weapons by the US army before leaving from Afghanistan. I fully urge the US to claim responsibility of all the situation and compensate Pakistan against the losses incurred to its economy due to abuse of these weapons so far. The US should ensure that the left behind weapons may not be used by terrorists by TTP. Today, renowned cleric Hamid ul Haq has also been assassinated by terrorists. Terrorists are killing people, abducting them for ransom just because of the fact that they possess modern gadgets for terrorism left by the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. I suggest to both Pakistan and Afghanistan to resolve mutual issues amicably because both can’t afford long term animosity for being next door neighbours. Taliban have never fulfilled a single commitment made in the Doha accord, but the US should guarantee the peace in Pakistan because US was the guarantor to Doha accord. Now the US should force Taliban that they should not allow terrorist groups to use Afghan soil against Pakistan. Pakistan has paid a lot for being first line ally of the US in the international war on terror.

Brig (R) Ahmad Saeed Minhas (Defense analyst): The US gave assurances in Doha accord that the US left over weapons would not be used against any country. Pakistan took this issue before the world and even at the UN platform. On the issue of Pakistan’s concerns over the US left over weapons, unfortunately Taliban followed the Indian narrative on this issue. Presently terrorist outfits like TTP are using US left over vehicles and weapons in their terror activities. These terror outfits with the connivance of their international supporters are making western border also hard for Pakistan but Pakistanis are foiling these conspiracies. Today’s suicide attack at Akora Khattack reveals that Taliban have started killing own people for their petty gains. It shows mentality of Taliban to convert the region into a hell for peace loving people. I think that it is right time for our political government to allow our brave forces to go for hot pursuit against terrorists deep in their dens. The US used to tie it with Indian narrative in the past but now it seems that the US has learnt a lesson and withdrawing from previous narrative. So I think that Pakistan will be gaining more achievements on diplomatic front in future.
