Pakistan making serious and sincere efforts for facilitating intra-Afghan peace process for an inclusive political settlement
June 28, 2021

Dr Saira Aquil (IR Expert): The Afghan government should sort out their problems themselves. Political settlement is in the hands of Afghan stakeholders and blaming Pakistan is unwarranted. TTP is a terrorist outfit based in Afghanistan and it has also been termed a threat to Pakistan by the UN also. Afghan authorities are claiming that the TTP are located on the other side of the border which is totally wrong. It shows the trust deficit between Afghanistan and Pakistan and further complicates the situation. Ashraf Ghani regime does not want to let power go out of their hands, and that is why they do not seem serious in establishing peace. On the other side, Afghan Taliban are capturing more and more districts and in some areas they are also enjoying the support of local population.

Aqeel Yousafzai(Afghan expert): We are facing similar situation and problems in Pakistan. Unclear policies of Afghan government and sudden withdrawal of US troops is aggravating the situation.  In recent past, we observed that there was no coordination between Afghan government and foreign troops stationed in the country. Afghan officials always blame Pakistan for their deficiencies and problems. Nobody can deny the sincere role of Pakistan in Afghan peace process. Spoilers are trying to complicate the situation not only for Afghanistan, but for Pakistan also.  Islamabad has clearly said that it has no favorites and it is supporting Afghan people in their quest for peace.

Dr. Huma Baqai (I.R Expert):The insecurity persists in Afghanistan everywhere. Almost 70 percent of Afghan region is under control of Taliban. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had claimed that Afghan forces will overcome Taliban, but his claim was against the ground reality. Violence in the region is escalating day by day, which is alarming.  The Afghan government hides its mistakes, and then Pakistan is made responsible. The United States was not the first world power who remained failure in Afghanistan, the examples of UK and  Russia  are also there for world reference. The world has become aware about the consequences of global terrorism. As for as Pakistan is concerned, it wants peace and stability in Afghanistan.
