The BJP-led Indian government has deployed additional 500 companies of paramilitary forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under the guise of security for assembly elections.                               

The development comes while the Kashmiri leadership and people are already decrying the presence of thousands of Indian troops, which has turned the entire territory into a prison. 

The so-called assembly elections in the territory are set to be held in three phases in next two months are being termed a sham exercise by the Hurriyat leadership and Kashmiri people.
