Interfaith Harmony Conference - a step to promote religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence: Aneeq Ahmad
August 30, 2023

Aneeq Ahmad (Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs): The Jaranwala like incident is totally against the spirit of Islam and should never happen again. The government has scheduled Interfaith Harmony conference to express unwavering commitment to promote religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all communities in Pakistan. We have invited Ulema, diplomats and other representatives from various sects. The participants expressed solidarity with the affected communities in Jaranwala, Faisalabad and pledged to help them rebuild and recover from the recent incidents of violence. The conference vowed to protect the right of all religious communities to practice their faith without fear or discrimination and promote interfaith dialogue as a means to address misunderstandings and bridge gaps between communities. The faith leaders, in response to the recent interfaith disturbances and acts of violence that shook Jaranwala passed a unanimous resolution, fostering interfaith harmony, promoting religious tolerance, and nurturing peaceful coexistence among all communities in Pakistan. The passing of this resolution is a right step to give a clear message to those forces who want to fuel the communal violence in Pakistan.
