Analysts appreciate shifting of Pakistan’s foreign policy focus from geo-politics to geo-economics
December 31, 2021

Najam Ud Din Sheikh (Former Foreign Secretary) It was very timely decision as the whole Muslim world gathered in Pakistan. Also, the representatives from the Western world and global organizations joined to find a solution to the Afghanistan fiasco. We have to see how the Afghanistan Taliban deals with the TTP looking for the sanctuaries in Afghanistan. We must be glad to know that Pakistan has shifted its foreign policy focus from geo-politics to geo-economics. However, the shift of this policy depends on the fact that how things unfold in Afghanistan. We must continue to raise our voices for the Kashmiri people. The sufferings of the people living in Kashmir must come to an end.

Dr Rasheed Ahmed Khan (IR Expert) 2021 has been a successful year in terms of the foreign policy of Pakistan. Pakistan has been facing a lot of challenges on the Eastern as well as on the Western side of its borders. However, we managed the challenges very skillfully. The international community should pay attention to the conundrum in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the withdrawal of the Western powers from Afghanistan was unorganized and hasty. The American administration left Afghanistan in shambles especially in economic terms. Simultaneously, the Kashmir crisis also needs support from the global community. Pakistan wants peaceful settlement of all the issues including Afghanistan and Kashmir. Pakistan's efforts for Afghanistan have been hailed and acknowledged by the international community.

Dr. Salman Shah (Advisor to CM Punjab) It's an amazing program for countries like Pakistan. It is a groundbreaking step by the government in Pakistan. It is unprecedented that the people in Pakistan will get health insurance up to 1.2 million rupees. This scheme is going to be a game changer for the people of Pakistan, who cannot afford the medication themselves. The government in Punjab is going to establish outstanding health facilities in the province. The government is working on health tourism to attract foreigners to Pakistan. We must make sure that the IMF program remains on track, which will reform the economic outlook of Pakistan. Eventually, Pakistan will become a competitive market and we will be able to attract the foreign investment. I'm very much confident that the future of Pakistan is very bright.
