Regional peace and stability is directly linked with the resolution of Kashmir issue: Analysts
February 04, 2023

Munir Akram (Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations):The struggle of the Kashmiri people for freedom and self-determination is legitimate under the United Nations Charter, Security Council resolutions and international laws.  History tells us that struggles for freedom cannot be vanquished and the valiant Kashmiri people are bound to realize their cherished goal of freedom.  There is a dire need that UN resolutions on Kashmir should be implemented in letter and spirit.  Pakistan continues to urge the international community, including the United Nations, to play its due role in peaceful and early settlement of Kashmir dispute to promote regional peace and stability.  India has been involved in committing massive human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for over 70 years. This repression has intensified in the aftermath of the unilateral measures initiated by India since 5 August 2019. Indian campaign of oppression cannot succeed in extinguishing the desire and demand of the Kashmiri people for freedom and self-determination. Their freedom struggle continues and will continue in the future as well. It is high time when international community should exert pressure on India to stop committing human rights violations in the held territory. The peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute, is of particular importance in terms of ensuring peace and security in the South Asian region. Islamabad is committed to continuing its all-out support to the people of occupied Jammu & Kashmir until they achieve their legitimate rights, freedom and liberty. The efforts and sacrifices of Pakistan for the redemption of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are unforgettable. Despite all the difficulties, Pakistan remains firm on its stand on Kashmir, and has advocated and supported the Kashmir cause at all international forums.

Dr. A.Z. Hilali (IR Expert):The Kashmir issue is very much alive in the United Nations charter and this issue has been internationalized. Kashmir issue remains one of the leading outstanding issues in the United Nations. The world is well aware of the fact that without the solution of Kashmir dispute, the regional peace and stability is not possible. On the other hand, India is deeply involved in committing massive genocide in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and turned the valley into world’s largest prison. The young Kashmiris are being taken to undisclosed places for torture. The international media and UN reports have already exposed cruel Indian policies in the Kashmir valley. The world needs to take concrete measures and force India to stop its human rights violation in the valley. Sooner or later, the Kashmiris will get their fundamental right to self-determination.

Abdul Hameed Lone (Hurriyet Leader): I would like to thank the government of Pakistan, the nation and all the state institutions for expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren. The people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been suffering from worst Indian atrocities but still determined to get their right to self-determination. It is the responsibility of the international community to ensure the smooth implementation of the UN resolution on Kashmir dispute. We, the Kashmiris, strongly believe that Pakistan will never leave the Kashmiris people alone in their struggle for freedom from illegal Indian occupation. Many freedom fighters have lost their loved ones in their struggle for a separate identity on the world’s map and Pakistan supports Kashmir in its primary right to self-determination. Solidarity rallies are held in the Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and around the globe.
