On the fifth anniversary of Indian illegal annexation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a large number of Kashmiri-Americans staged a demonstration in New York to denounce India's widespread human rights abuses.

The demonstrators called on the world community to implement the UN-pledged right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.

Speakers including Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai condemned India's August 2019 action in scrapping the special status of Kashmir and voiced support and solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
