Rs200mln to be spent on identification of earthquake, landslide ‘hotspots’

The government will execute a project of identifying the earthquake-prone areas and landslide hotspots in the country aimed at minimizing the disaster risks.

According to the APP, the project titled "Pakistan National Research Programme on Geological Hazards Earthquakes and Landslides will be completed in three years with a cost of 200 million rupees.

Besides, the establishment of a new network of Global Navigation Satellite Stations, a countrywide landslide inventory database would also be built to prevent disasters and calamities.

The outcome will lay a solid foundation for a reliable hazard assessment related to earthquakes and landslides.
