Analysts hail the launch of Executive Portal to bring transparency in flood relief activities
September 12, 2022

Ahmed Kamal (Chairman, Federal Flood Commission): It is a good initiative of the government to establish the Executive Portal of National Flood Response Coordination Center that aims at dealing with the flood situation in the country and rehabilitation of the victims. The portal will ensure transparency in relief and rehabilitation efforts of the government. The public would now be able to directly know about the financial support and relief goods being received and distributed among the flood-hit people through this portal. Currently, the overall flood situation in the country is improving. The rivers are flowing normally. Only there is high-level flood in Kotri but it is of low intensity.

Salman Ghani (Senior Journalist): Pakistan would definitely need the foreign assistance to cope with the challenge of destruction caused by the recent floods. All the political parties should be on the same page for the sake of national interest. The political differences must be set aside and the competition should be on how much one can facilitate the flood affected persons. Some political parties are focused on maligning the state institutions and are busy doing politics in these testing times, rather than making concerted efforts to reduce sufferings of the flood-affected people. The incumbent government is utilizing every available resource to help the flood victims. The security forces have also contributed to a great extent to rescue and relief operations across the country.
