Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been widely condemned by Hurriyat organizations, political analysts, and civil society activists as a propaganda stunt designed to mislead the international community about the deteriorating human rights situation in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement issued in Srinagar called the visit a deliberate attempt to mask India’s escalating human rights abuses under stringent military control.
Political analysts and civil society activists argue that the so-called infrastructure projects inaugurated by Modi, such as the Z-Morh Tunnel, are military-centric initiatives designed to facilitate the movement of Indian armed forces, rather than addressing the basic developmental needs of the local population.
They condemned these projects for violating international laws and human rights standards, as they have been implemented without consulting local communities.
Meanwhile, instead of addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people, Modi's visit has only intensified the hardships of a common man in the occupied territory.
On the other hand, protests were held in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bhimber, Dhadial, Bagh, Neelum Valley and other parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to IIOJK.
An Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force man took his own life by shooting himself with his service rifle at the 116 Battalion in Srinagar.
The suicide brings the number of such deaths among Indian forces and police personnel in IIOJK to 618 since January 1, 2007.
In another incident, a Border Security Force constable was injured in an accidental rifle discharge during routine patrolling in Old Town, Baramulla district.
