Former ambassadors lambast joint Indo-US statement in disregard of Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terror
June 24, 2023

Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry (Former Ambassador): It is very important to know why Pakistan’s name was mentioned in joint statement of India and the United States. The statement ignored the names of Russia and China despite the fact that Washington aims to contain China and wants a bigger role in Indo-Pacific region. We could expect this thing from India, but not from the United States. It, however, does not include direct negative reference to Pakistan. Pakistan has already proscribed all the terrorist outfits which India has blamed on Islamabad for cross border terrorist activities. Pakistan has fought a long war against terrorism and is against all forms and manifestations of this menace.

Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador): India has been trying to malign Pakistan at the international level, in collusion with some like-minded countries. The basic purpose of this campaign is to spread anarchy in Pakistan. India always accuses Pakistan of cross border terrorism due to its eternal enmity with its Western neighbor. It is India that has been involved in state sponsored terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and is also persecuting minorities in the country. The US is warming up its relations with India due to its huge market and also to contain China and is totally ignoring the human rights violations committed by New Delhi.
