Senior Hurriyat leader and Vice Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani says Kashmir is a UN recognized disputed area that needs to be resolved peacefully on the basis of right to self-determination.

Responding to UK Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer’s stance on the issue, he said Kashmir is not a constitutional matter for India but it remains to be one of the oldest unresolved issues pending on the UN agenda.

Referring to over a dozen UN resolutions, Altaf Wani said the United Kingdom is one of those nations that have voted in favour of right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement from Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir National Front spokesman has strongly condemned the stepped up human rights violations in Kashmir.
