IIOJK: APHC leader urges global community to protect identity of Kashmiris
October 13, 2024

Illegally incarcerated senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Shabbir Ahmed Shah has urged the global community to intervene and protect the land and identity of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message from New Delhi's Tihar jail, Shabbir Ahmad Shah highlighted the risks posed by the Modi-led Indian regime, which seeks to impose Hindutva ideology in the Muslim-majority territory.

He cited examples such as the termination of Muslim employees from government jobs, singing of devotional Hindu hymns in educational institutions and renaming of schools, colleges, roads and landmarks with Muslim-rooted names.

On the other hand, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah in a media interview in Srinagar declared the recently-held election result a resounding rejection of the Bharatiya Janata Party's illegal actions.

He emphasized that the outcome underscores the widespread discontent with the BJP's decisions, particularly the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

He stressed that his party will advocate for the restoration of Article 370, regardless of the BJP's stance.
