Ejaz Ahmed (Welfare Officer, Pakistani Embassy in Greece): I express my deep sympathies with the grieving families of the victims of the capsized boat off the coast of Greece. So far, 12 people have been rescued. Total of seventy eight bodies have been found but their identification is still under process. We would like to appeal to the people to provide data of their loved ones who could be the victims in this incident. For further details people can contact the Pakistani Embassy's numbers that can be found on our website.
Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): Human trafficking is a global issue and strict action must be taken against the mafias involved in the business of smuggling people. There are horrific and heart-rending accounts of illegal migrants travelling across the world despite the fact that there are certain resolutions in order to discourage human trafficking through illegal means. Certain European countries support illegal migration in order to get cheaper labor. In fact, human trafficking is a source of embarrassment for any country. We must motivate the people to use legal ways to go abroad and avoid illegal means. The government must devise policies to educate people regarding the consequences of adopting illegal means to go abroad.
