Analysts term Israeli aggression against innocent Palestinians as unwarranted, unjustified
January 27, 2023

Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador):  The recent deadly military raid is another severe act of aggression against innocent Palestinian people on part of Israeli government. The blame of Israeli government is that a rocket has earlier been fired from Palestinian territory. The military campaign of such a large scale is totally unwarranted and unjustified. It is against the basic human rights and international community needs to prevent the situation in Middle East from further escalation. A strong response is also needed from Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. Although a few Muslim countries have given their recognition to Israeli government due to their economic and political interests, however, the platform of OIC needs to be active on Palestine issue.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defense Analyst): The Palestinian issue is one of the long standing issues on United Nations agenda alongside Kashmir dispute. There are number of resolutions passed by UNGA and UN Security Council on these issues but are not being implemented and enforced in true letter and spirit. The international community should realise that the peace in South Asia and Middle East is impossible without resolution of these two disputes. In the case of Palestine and Israel, a two state solution has been passed by majority of votes on UNO but Israel is reluctant to accept it. Israel and other world powers need to realise that without resolution of Palestine issue peace and prosperity is not possible in the region. Israeli media is also continuously urging their government to resolve this long standing issue. The recent act of aggression by Israeli forces is totally against the basis human rights and UN charter as well. It is now the responsibility of United Nations and especially the Security Council to act for restoration of peace in the region.
