Babar Majid Bhatti (CEO National Information Technology Board): When we look into the past on the emerging economies in the world, there is a strong co-relation between there pace of development and pace of digitalization. This suggests that the digitalization is imperative. There are three important pillars in digitalization which are digital society, digital economy and digital governance. When we say we want to digitalize the economy and society, the governance should be digitalize at the same time. When we implement the E-office, the first thing is development of the solution which could potentially be used by all the government departments for their working. This solution has been implemented and deployed in all the federal government ministries and divisions. There are forty ministries in Pakistan and this E-office solution has been implemented already in all of them.

Question is about the adoption of the system because the bigger challenge is not the technology implementation actually, it is the adoption of the system by the people. We are grappling with this issue these days as well. Few divisions have adopted it very well while few are facing issues in terms of the capacities and agilities in which they can adopt the system.

We need to establish a system in which the process of audit needs to transform as well. There is a long way to go to fully adopt this system and we are at right direction which will help in development of the paperless office system.
